Insurance & Payments FAQ
Do you take insurance for vasectomy procedures?
Yes, we take most major insurances and employee benefits towards the cost of your procedure. You are also of course able to pay cash out of pocket.
For patients utilizing their insurance benefits, the out-of-pocket cost will be dependent on your plan and benefits at the time of the procedure.
Self-administered sedation is not covered by any insurance and is available as a self-pay add on for $100 for patients choosing to utilize their insurance.
When do I pay for my procedure?
A $100 deposit will be due at the time of scheduling and is applied toward the cost of the procedure. The remaining balance is due in full at the time of the appointment, prior to the procedure.
How common is a vasectomy?
More than 500,000 men undergo a vasectomy each year in the United States, making it the most commonly performed male birth control procedure. For over 30 years, Las Vegas Urology has provided comprehensive (traditional and no-scalpel) vasectomy procedures for men in Las Vegas, NV.
How long will the procedure take & what should I expect?
The No-Scalpel vasectomy is an in-office procedure that takes about 20 minutes.
First, if requested, your urologist applies a topical numbing cream to your skin at the treatment area or supplies an oral sedative. You can also expect a local injection with a numbing agent to make your procedure as comfortable and painless as possible.
The physician then gently punctures your scrotum with a needle through very small holes to access to your vas deferens. The vas deferens is then carefully cut and each of the ends are sealed. A no-scalpel vasectomy does not use incisions and no stitches are needed for this form of surgery.
How effective is a vasectomy?
A vasectomy is considered to be an almost 100% effective form of male birth control (99.8% to be exact).
